vw type 2Westfalia Conversion Camper Bus 1960
1967 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Campmobile
This Campmobile SO42 is a beautifully restored and powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four engine paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipped with classic Westfalia camping amenities, this SO42 Pop Top Camper features a pop-up fiberglass roof, a wood roof rack, louvered vent windows, a camp-side awning, and an exterior electrical hookup.
It also includes a picnic set and a Coleman stove, enhancing its vintage camping appeal. Inside, the van boasts a well-preserved Birch plywood interior with cabinetry, a kitchenette, a folding table, and a rear bench seat that converts into a sleeping surface.
The rear cabin features tan patterned cloth and beige vinyl upholstery, a water pump, an ice box, a spice rack, and window curtains. Additionally, a children’s hammock is stretched across the front compartment, providing extra sleeping space. Inside the cab, white sheet metal contrasts with the tan upholstery, and a parcel shelf provides storage space.
The steering column was replaced in 2024, and wiring repairs were made to the turn signal, brake light, and high/low beam circuits. The Westfalia’s classic camping features are complemented by its functional design and practicality, making it a desirable collectible and a capable vintage camper.
