VW Karmann Ghia Red 1967

This 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupe was acquired by the seller in 2006 and subsequently refurbished. The car was featured in the June 2009 issue of Dune Buggies and Hot VWs. Refurbishment work included separating the body from the pan, repairing the right-front fender, and stripping the finish before the exterior was repainted in a late-model Beetle shade of red during the 2007 refurbishment.

Details include pop-out rear quarter windows, a vented decklid, a Karmann body tag, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums. The shocks, ball joints, and braking system components were replaced during the refurbishment.

Interior appointments include a JVC CD stereo, square-weave floor coverings, a black dashboard pad, and aftermarket speakers. The two-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 90-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles.

Equipment includes a Bosch ignition coil, a Solex carburetor, an oil-bath air cleaner, and an alternator. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt by Rancho Performance Transaxles of Fullerton, California.
