vw Karmann Ghia Coupe Red 1965

1965 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe

Power comes from a 1.2L air-cooled flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Exterior details include bullet-style front turn indicators, pop-out rear quarter windows, dual “pea shooter” exhaust outlets, and polished trim. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at each corner.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears a chrome horn bar with a Wolfsburg crest center cap and frames a suite of VDO instrumentation consisting of a 90-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 55k miles. The 1.2L air-cooled flat-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

The engine tins were painted gloss black, and work under current ownership reportedly included rebuilding the carburetor, overhauling the fuel pump, and adjusting the valves in addition to replacing the clutch, pressure plate, clutch disc, motor and transmission mounts, and spark plugs.

The Volkswagen Delivery Status certificate lists identification numbers, factory colors, options, and a manufacturing date of January 2, 1965.
