Tempo Truck Green 1937
This 1937 Tempo E200 is a three-wheeled utility vehicle manufactured by Vidal & Sohn Tempo-Werke of Hamburg, Germany. It is one of approximately 9,600 units produced in various body styles during 1936 and 1937. The vehicle is equipped with a 197cc two-stroke single-cylinder engine and a three-speed manual transmission that, along with the front wheel and chain box, form a pivoting sub-assembly.
Features include a central tube frame, a louvered hood, cowl-mounted headlights and mirrors, reverse-hinged doors, and B-pillar trafficators, as well as a drop-down tailgate and bed walls. Suspension is handled by a single coil spring up front and a swing axle with a pair of volute springs at the rear. Braking is provided by mechanical drums at the rear only.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a starter button and a dash panel housing the shifter, trafficator switch, keyed ignition switch, and warning lamps for headlights and oil pressure. The water-cooled 197cc ILO-Motorenwerke two-stroke single was factory rated at seven horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheel through a three-speed manual transmission with a reverse gear and a drive chain enclosed in a load-bearing cover.
