Studebaker Silver Hawk 3-Speed 1958
1958 Studebaker Silver Hawk 3-Speed
This 1958 Studebaker Silver Hawk coupe was refurbished in the late 1990s. Modifications include an Edelbrock carburetor, an aftermarket intake manifold, an auxiliary electric cooling fan, PerTronix electronic ignition, aftermarket air conditioning, a Sunpro tachometer, a Custom Auto sound radio, and aftermarket speakers.
Factory equipment included double-action shock absorbers with variable-rate springs up front and shocks and leaf springs out back. Braking is handled by drums at each corner, and the car has power-assisted steering. The steering wheel features a bright horn ring and sits ahead of a machine-turned dash panel that houses a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, fuel level, and oil pressure.
A Sunpro tachometer has been added below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 42k miles and is said to have rolled over. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
