Mercedes 300SD – Silver 1979
1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD
This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD is powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-five paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car was finished in Astral Silver Metallic from the factory, and it is said to have been repainted in the early 2000s. European-specification bumpers have been added, and features include quad headlights, a sunroof, dual side mirrors, and a power antenna. Pitting chrome is present on the right-front door handle.
Stopping power is provided by power-assisted ventilated front and solid rear discs, and Bilstein shock absorbers have been fitted at each corner. Interior amenities include a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM stereo, power windows and locks, cruise control, and automatic climate control.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames a 125-mph speedometer as well as a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 212k miles. The 3.0-liter OM617A turbodiesel inline-five was factory rated at 110 horsepower and 168 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
