Mercedes 280SL 5 speed Strawberry 1970
This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is a US-market example that was acquired by the seller in 2016 and refurbished over the following four years at a cost of more than $70k. During the project, the 2.8-liter M130 inline-six was resealed, and a Tremec five-speed manual transmission from Bud’s Benz was installed. Originally finished in Silver Metallic and equipped with an Anthracite Grey hardtop, the car now wears an older repaint in metallic burgundy.
The braking system incorporates discs at all four corners and was refreshed in 2020 with new rotors, pads, and lines. VDO instrumentation is housed in a body-colored dash fascia and includes a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles. A Becker Europa stereo is situated in the center dash.
