Mercedes 280SE 2 Door Hardtop 1971
Power comes from a 3.5-liter V8 paired with a column-shifted four-speed automatic transmission, disc brakes, Bilstein shocks, a front torsion bar, auxiliary lamps, a sunroof, a Behr air-conditioning system, an analog clock, and a Becker Europa radio. Delivered from the factory in Blue (903), the car was repainted in Midnight Blue during a refurbishment completed approximately a decade ago.
The suspension includes an independent double-wishbone front setup with coil springs along with a rear single-joint swing axle with hydropneumatics compensating spring and level control. Braking is handled by discs at all four corners.
Features include woodgrain dash trim, a Behr air-conditioning system, an analog clock, power windows, and a Becker Europa AM/FM radio. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure.
The 3.5-liter M116 V8 features Bosch Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 197 horsepower and 211 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
