Mercedes 190b Binz Kombiwagon salmon (sw)1960

This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190b is one of 349 converted to a Kombiwagen by German coachbuilder Binz between 1958 and 1961. Power is from a 1.9L inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and features include a split-opening tailgate, a fold-flat rear bench seat, a Becker Mexico radio, and 13″ steel wheels.

The car was factory equipped with a double-wishbone front and single-joint rear axle suspension with coil springs, and braking is handled by drums at all four corners. The interior was refreshed with Tobacco MB-Tex vinyl upholstery, matching door panels, and gray molded rubber floor liners. Woodgrain trim accents the dash, and other details include vent windows, a Becker Mexico radio, a locking glove box, and polished door pulls in the rear.

The Kombiwagen conversion features a split-opening tailgate and liftgate, a forward-folding rear bench that provides an extended flat load surface, and an enclosed compartment below the floor. The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames VDO instruments consisting of a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges.

The 1.9L inline-four was overhauled during the refurbishment, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission.
