Maxim Street Rod Red Screamer Custom Pickup 1946
Power comes from a turbo- and scavenger-blown 736ci Detroit Diesel 8V92 two-stroke V8 backed by an Allison four-speed automatic transmission and a Rockwell rear end. The truck features a 1946 Ford pickup cab mounted to a custom-fabricated steel frame that rides on 24.5” alloy wheels with a custom-made suicide front end, a dually rear axle, power steering, and air brakes. The truck rides on semi-elliptical leaf springs with a suicide front setup and a custom spring rated at ~5k lbs, and the Maxim’s power steering, axles, and air brakes were retained. The pickup-style bed has a polished tonneau that complements the rear fenders and side-mounted cylindrical fuel tanks. White flourishes accent the exterior, and other details include a split windshield, chrome headlight housings, and dual air horns ahead of the radiator. The vehicle measures approximately 21′ long and just over 8′ wide. The 736ci Detroit Diesel 8V92 two-stroke V8 is equipped with both a turbocharger and a scavenger blower. Output is claimed to be 430 horsepower and 1,186 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an Allison four-speed automatic transmission and a Rockwell rear end with 4.64:1 gearing, and a “flying eyeball” painted on the differential cover peeks out between dual 5″ exhaust system.
