Maserati 3500 GT White 1961
This Maserati 3500 GT is said to have been ordered new by Viscount Guy Neville Montagu and spent time in Cagliari, Italy, early in its life before undergoing a three-year refurbishment between 1990 and 1993 in Italy. This work included a repaint in Bianco and a re-trim of the interior in red leather.
Power is provided by a 3,485cc DOHC inline-six that features triple Weber carburetors and twin-plug ignition and is mated to a ZF five-speed manual transmission. The 3500 GT model was introduced at the 1957 Geneva Motor Show in the form of two prototypes, from which Carrozzeria Touring’s 2+2 coupe was chosen to enter production later that year.
Superleggera construction incorporates aluminum body panels wrapped over a tubular steel spaceframe with a 2,600mm wheelbase. The 3,485cc Tipo 101 inline-six features an aluminum block and cylinder head, with the latter featuring hemispherical combustion chambers and dual overhead camshafts. Induction is through triple Weber 42 DCOE carburetors, while ignition is handled by two spark plugs per cylinder. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF five-speed manual transmission.
Suspension incorporates double wishbones and coil springs up front and a leaf-sprung solid axle at the rear, with tubular shock absorbers and anti-roll bars featured at both ends.
